What does this listing mean for ordinary savers, for people who use AI tools at work, and for the companies that compete with Anthropic or depend on it? What is likely to happen next, and what should people like the readers of this page think about before deciding what to do (source)?

In plain words: Anthropic — American company that makes the Claude AI; Claude — Anthropic's AI chat assistant; Nasdaq — a big American stock exchange; ANT — the trading name for Anthropic's shares; Alphabet — the parent company of Google; S-1/A — updated papers a company files before selling shares; SEC EDGAR — the US regulator's public list of filings

The $80 billion loss is mostly paper; the real risk is giant computer bills against customers free to leave.

What to do

Ask your broker this week if it offers new-listing shares; decide a small sum before about November 9.

Anthropic's stock isn't for sale yet, so use the weeks before it is to cut your risk.

Who should do what

What not to do: Don't buy pre-listing Anthropic shares or tokens from third parties, or put in money you need.

The scary loss is mostly paper, but the shares are not a bargain. No price is set, and big funds usually get the first slice, so small buyers rarely get early shares. Fake «pre-listing» offers are void, the company says.

Your work tool may rest on one supplier. Five customers bring in about a quarter of Anthropic's sales, and contracts lock little in. Prices and terms can move once outside shareholders ask for growth.

Savers: wait for the price range, expected early to mid-November. If your broker offers new-listing shares and you can lose the money, ask for a small amount then. If not, skip day one and watch.

This is what most AIs advise. Each AI explains it in its own words below.

What the world's leading AIs think

They agree
9 of 10: don't chase the stock on its first day.
They split
Wenxin reads the loss as a warning; Kimi and Z.ai call it paper.
Not obvious
Amazon and Google sell Anthropic its computing and also compete with it.
What to watch
If the price range appears by mid-November, the mid-November listing holds.
Read in full

Nine of the ten agree on the core: of the $80.7 billion first-half loss, $72.4 billion is an accounting charge, not cash spent. Underneath, the business lost $693 million, made a $974 million operating profit in the second quarter, and brought in $16.3 billion in sales. Only Wenxin reads the headline loss as a plain warning sign.

They also agree that nothing can be bought yet. No share price or share count is set. Trading is expected from about November 16, though one report says Thanksgiving week. The seven co-founders keep 50.1% of the votes, so new shareholders get little say. Several answers warn that «pre-IPO» funds and tokens are a trap: Anthropic says unapproved transfers may be void, and one retail fund charging about 3.13% a year held no Anthropic shares.

The split is over how worried to be and what savers should do. Some stress the healthy core: positive cash from operations and $112 billion in cash. Others stress the fragile side: about a quarter of sales come from five customers with no long-term contracts, while Anthropic has promised hundreds of billions for computing to Google, Amazon, Broadcom and Microsoft.

For savers, one answer says ask a broker for a small share once the price range appears. Others say wait for the printed price, spread money over a fund, or wait for the first quarterly report.

For rivals and suppliers, the listing puts everyone on a public scoreboard. Computing-rental firms CoreWeave and Nebius fell over 30% in October, and OpenAI has pushed its own listing to 2027. Amazon and Google are both Anthropic's suppliers and its rivals.

They split: Wenxin reads the loss as a warning; Kimi and Z.ai call it paper.
What settles the dispute: The first quarterly report after listing will show who is right.

The AIs from the USA and China agree on the facts; China's lean slightly more to fixed dates and backup suppliers.

  1. 1ClaudeUSA8.4Anthropic pledged Broadcom $161 billion for chips — ten times half-year sales

For an ordinary saver, the main point is that this is not yet a chance to buy in cheap, and the frightening loss is not what it looks like. Of the $80.7 billion lost in the first half, $72.4 billion was an accounting charge: certain IOUs Anthropic had sold became worth more on paper as the company's value rose (cnbc.com).

The day-to-day business lost only $693 million and turned a $974 million profit in the second quarter (cryptobriefing.com). The share price and the number of shares are still blank in the filing (techloy.com), and it is not yet known how many shares, if any, will go to small buyers (finance.yahoo.com).

The companies that sell computing power to Anthropic moved first. On Monday Nvidia rose 2.4%, while Alphabet and Meta fell (en.sedaily.com).

Anthropic has promised about $114.5 billion to Google and $110 billion to Amazon for computing over the years to 2036 (finance.biggo.com), and $161.2 billion to Broadcom (benzinga.com). Buying the stock would not give buyers much say: seven co-founders will hold 50.1% of the votes (thenextweb.com). People who put money into funds or tokens sold as an early way in should check what they actually hold.

Anthropic has said share transfers through unapproved platforms may be void (finder.com). One retail fund charged about 3.13% a year, and its holdings list as of June 30 showed no Anthropic shares at all (forbes.com).

Savers, wait for the updated filing that names a price range, expected in early to mid-November. If your broker offers new-listing shares and you could afford to lose that money, ask for a small amount once the range appears. If not, skip the first-day rush, because a hot opening can push the price well above the offer price (ebc.com).

Expect the date to move. One report points to the week of November 16 (thenextweb.com), and another to Thanksgiving week starting November 23 (techloy.com).

Its own forecast: Anthropic (ANT) starts trading on Nasdaq and its first-day closing price is above its IPO offer price — 50% chance by Nov 25, 2026

  2. 2MetaUSA8.0Trading could start Nov 16 — before Thanksgiving dinner

This is not a normal stock sale — it is a bet on who pays for AI. The papers show $16.3 billion of sales for six months to June 30, 2026, up from $1.2 billion a year before, but a net loss of $80.7 billion, of which $72.4 billion is an accounting charge for past fundraising, leaving a real operating loss of $693 million. That structure also leaves founders with 50.1% of votes through one special share, so public buyers get little say.

For people who use Claude at work and for rivals, the stakes are different. Anthropic says it now has more than 11,900 customers paying $100,000 or more a year, and over half of them also use its coding and office tools, so your employer may get more tied to one provider. The filing also notes a start of trading as soon as November 16 on Nasdaq as ANT, which would come before rival OpenAI, which has pushed its own listing to next year.

Check your wallet this Tuesday, Oct 27: if you already own broad tech funds, look for their holdings in Anthropic backers and wait for the price range to be set; if not, do not chase ANT on day one and ask your work team how hard it would be to switch off Claude before you renew any contract.

  3. 3MiMoChina8.0Five customers bring in a quarter of Anthropic's revenue

For savers the scary number is a mirage: of the $80.7 billion first-half loss, about $72 billion is paper — the re-pricing of IOUs and promised shares — while only about $9 billion was real spending on computing (abc11.com).

And small buyers are last in line: the brokers who will sell shares to ordinary customers have not been named yet, so big funds usually get the first slice (finance.yahoo.com).

Companies that run Claude at work should read the fine print: nearly a quarter of Anthropic's revenue came from just five customers, and it signs no long-term contracts (finance.yahoo.com), so prices and product plans can swing fast once outside shareholders demand growth.

Rivals and the data-centre firms that rent out computing power now live by a public scoreboard: CoreWeave and Nebius lost over 30% of their value in October (cnbc.com), and OpenAI has pushed its own share sale to 2027 (finance.yahoo.com).

Wait, savers, for the printed price of one share before you act: if you already hold stock funds, do nothing until trading starts — set for as early as November 16 (abc11.com); if you still want ANT (the company's three-letter stock name), cap it at money you can lose and order through your broker once the price is fixed, or skip the single share and spread the same cash across a fund that holds many AI companies at once.

  4. 4Z.aiChina7.8Up to $100 billion raised in the biggest stock debut ever

Nobody can buy anything yet — Monday's news is paperwork, not stock.

Trading should not start until mid-November at the earliest, and the scary loss is mostly an accounting figure, not money burned: of the $80.7 billion lost in the first half, $72 billion was a paper charge from Anthropic's own value soaring, the company held more than $112 billion in cash at mid-year, and it says that once certain accounting items are left out it was actually profitable in the third quarter, on revenue of $16.8 billion.

For companies that build on Claude, this is the first time anyone can read the real books: the filing shows an 11-gigawatt computing appetite, with Nvidia chips supplying about 4.7 gigawatts of it, plus a long risk list — so this week is the moment to agree on a backup AI supplier.

For investors, the debut could raise up to $100 billion at a $2 trillion value — the biggest listing ever — and other companies wanting to go public are already postponing their own debuts to wait for it.

Decide before about November 9, when the sales push to big investors starts: people with savings who want in and can afford to lose the money should ask their broker now whether it offers shares in new listings — only about five brokers, including Fidelity, Schwab and Robinhood, got SpaceX stock for customers — and if yours does not, plan to watch the first trading day instead and let the price settle before buying.

Either way, ignore anyone offering pre-listing Anthropic shares, which the company itself says are void.

  1. 6GrokUSA6.9Anthropic’s $80 billion loss is mostly paper accounting, not cash spent

Anthropic’s public share sale papers show it is racing to raise tens of billions more for computer power while its founders keep control and its big loss is mostly an accounting entry from old deals, not money already spent.

For ordinary savers this means one more high-risk stock that could swing markets if it lists, but it is not a place for everyday savings money. People who use AI tools at work may see Claude get more funding for better models, yet the same filing warns of intense competition and huge ongoing costs that could slow free or cheap access later.

Companies that compete with Anthropic, such as OpenAI, face a better-funded rival that already sells mostly to businesses rather than everyday users. Firms that supply computer power to Anthropic, including Amazon, Google and Microsoft, stand to gain from the hundreds of billions in promised future spending the papers list. Neither group changes the everyday choice for a person with a regular job and savings.

Check the latest numbers yourself on Tuesday, October 27, if you hold spare cash you can afford to lose and want a possible stake in Claude’s maker; if not, leave it alone and stick to broad index funds that already own many tech firms.

The papers list $16.3 billion in sales for the first half of 2026, up roughly thirteen times from a year earlier, plus an $80.7 billion net loss that is mostly non-cash revaluation of old convertible notes. Founders control 50.1 percent of votes through one special share, and reports point to a possible first trading day in the week of November 16, though the timing and price are still blank.

  2. 7ChatGPTUSA6.6Anthropic’s founders keep 50.1% of the vote after listing

Ordinary savers should treat Anthropic’s planned stock-market debut as an opportunity to watch, not a reason to rush into buying. Its public filing reports $16.3 billion in revenue in the first half of 2026, but an $80.7 billion net loss, including a $72.4 billion one-time accounting charge; Fortune also reports positive adjusted operating income, showing why the headline loss alone does not tell the whole story (apnews.com; fortune.com).

The proposed share price and final company valuation are not yet settled, so savers should not confuse a famous AI brand with a fairly priced investment (sec.gov).

  3. 8WenxinChina4.8Claude maker eyes mid-November trading despite losing five times what it earns

On this Tuesday, October 27, 2026, if you're a regular saver or someone who uses AI at work, don't rush to buy ANT shares just because the name sounds familiar — a company losing $80 billion in half a year is a warning sign, not an invitation.

The numbers mean investors are betting on future growth far ahead of today's profits, so ordinary people should treat this like any speculative stock: only money you could afford to lose, and only after the first few weeks of real trading show how the market actually values it.

If you run a business that uses Claude or sells tools that compete with it, watch for price changes in the next few months — Anthropic will likely raise fresh cash to keep building, and rivals like OpenAI and Google may face even more pressure to show profits.

Smaller firms that depend on Claude's technology should prepare for possible shifts in how the product is priced or supported once the company answers to public shareholders instead of private backers.

Look at the actual filing papers and wait for at least one week of trading data before you decide anything. If the share price stays above the offering level for a full week, that signals steady demand; if it drops fast, the market is saying the losses matter more than the hype. Either way, keep using your AI tools as you always have — the listing changes Anthropic's owners, not the product you already rely on.
